I had a picture in my mind of Fiji and it was completely different I mean it was an absolute paradise but like any other third world country you see things that shock you, its certainly different living to England, even the police who were armed with guns and machetes the size of me were so friendly helpful & just danced in the street as i witnessed on my first day on the mainland.
I then went on to an island called Mana bay and stayed with relatives of the first family I stayed with, it was amazing it was just getting a speed boat to this hidden forgotten world,
I was greeted by truly inspirational people, life seemed so simple, they cooked fish caught on the reef just that day I watched this man everyday with a different size and coloured fish walk up the beach, there was endless supplies of coconut's in the tree's so everyday I would enjoy the fresh taste of coconut also
the local islanders invited me to enjoy kava which is a kind of delicacy out there its grounded down tree roots which take years to develop, they believe it heals you and when I researched when I got home I found that is linked to curing cancers and many other infections diseases and illness's, its very euphoric and peaceful once drunk in ceremony and I found even speaking with people with not to good English and my Fijian not being great to have wonderful conversations sometimes for hours taking on board how much I drank,
Back to my charity plan after the introduction anyway, basically I was lucky to not become ill on the island due the tap I was drinking from wasn't clean water tasted rough but I didn't mind and stuck with it, I would like to bring a water system to this island where they can produce clean water from the sea water and make it fully filtered, specially for the kids on this island, i know just one of these big systems will cater for the whole island, just need to kick it off research costs of everything get there & get it to island and build the local islanders all said they would help set up and give accommodation, but i need several things to get started like a catch name, and lots research I am open to any ideas from anyone about this.
I would love to just offer a simple thing like water to keep these kids smiling like they do everyday, i would also take a supply of sporting equipment well rugby balls etc.. as my garden shed is full of them, paper & pens, and some de-fleeing equipment for the many dogs on the islands with no homes which have actually adapted to fishing. anyway i will conclude this now, and give a new blog when its all up & running.
